Radiology Education - The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

Radiology Education
Radiology Education - The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning - Rethy K. Chhem (Editor), Kathryn M. Hibbert (Editor), Teresa van Deven (Editor). The rapid pace at which knowledge is expanding and technological innovations are emerging presents both challenges and opportunities in imaging sciences. As workload and training demands increase, the ways in which we practice and train future practitioners must evolve to meet the new demands. For those involved in medical education, a reconsideration of the way the business of imaging is conducted is needed. Revolutionary changes are on the medical imaging horizon, and responses must address the ‘new reality’ on a global scale. This includes planning for outreach programs that may be extended to developing countries with emerging economies. From the reviews: “Radiology Education is the first book to address radiology education from the perspective of scholarship of teaching and learning and was written by experts and medical professionals from around the world to assist in training the next generation of radiologists in their expanding roles. … This book should be a useful resource for anyone interested in training radiologists.”

Emergency Radiology Edited by Mayil S. Krishnam, John Curtis

Emergency Radiology
Emergency Radiology Edited by Mayil S. Krishnam, John Curtis. Emergency Radiology is a quick reference pocketbook for radiologists worldwide working in any emergency or acute care setting. It acts both as a checklist of presenting features to enable accurate interpretation of diagnostic imaging investigations and as a guide to understanding the basics of performing therapeutic or diagnostic interventional procedures. A wide range of emergencies are reviewed, giving all pertinent information in a concise presentation for on-call radiologists and trainees who encounter these emergencies out-of-hours. The text is complemented by high quality images of emergency conditions in all body systems, including head, cardiovascular, chest, abdomen, pelvis and extremities. Pediatrics, fluoroscopy, ultrasound and the use of MRI in emergencies are also discussed. Emergency Radiology is an invaluable for all radiologists, emergency physicians and radiography technicians, as well as for any healthcare practitioner involved in patient care in the emergency or acute care environment.

Basic Clinical Radiobiology 4th Ed. - Albert Van der Kogel (Author), Michael Joiner (Author)

Basic Clinical Radiobiology
Basic Clinical Radiobiology 4th Edition - Albert Van der Kogel (Author), Michael Joiner (Author). This concise but comprehensive textbook sets out the essentials of the science and clinical application of radibiology for those seeking accreditation in radiation oncology, clinical radiation physics and radiation technology. Fully revised and updated to keep abreast of current developments in radiation biology and radiation oncology, the fourth edition continues to present in an interesting way the biological basis of radiation therapy, discussing the basic principles and significant developments that underlie the latest attempts to improve the radiotherapeutic management of cancer. New topics for the fourth edition include chapters on the mechanisms of cell death, biological response modifiers, and biological image guided radiotherapy, with major revisions to sections on the molecular basis of the radiation response, tumour hypoxia and the dose-rate effect. A variety of new authors have contributed to this revision, who, together with the new Editorial team, have used their significant international teaching experience to ensure the content remains clear and comprehensive, and as valuable to the trainee as it is to the established radiation oncologist.

Pocket Atlas Of Radiographic Anatomy 2d ed - Torsten B. Moller · Emil Reif

Pocket Atlas of Radiographic
 Anatomy
Pocket Atlas Of Radiographic Anatomy 2d Edition - Torsten Moeller (Author), Emil Reif (Author). In spite of the advent of digital imaging modalities, the importance of interpreting conventional radiographs has not diminished. As with the first edition, this book presents radiographic anatomy as it appears in all commonly performed radiographic examinations. The visible anatomic structures are keyed to schematic drawings on the opposing page, thus aiding identification and interpretation. For the the new edition, many studies have been replaced with better quality radiographs and drawings. A valuable starting point for radiographers seeking image interpretation information..highly recommended. The lost art of the plain radiograph is kept alive in this book. Organized by standard radiographic views, this book will be useful for clinicians, as well as junior residents in radiology. The images are arranged with the radiograph on one side with the schematic and key on the other. Quality of the images are decent and some subtle soft tissue anatomy is poorly visualized but the schematic is useful. This book should be upgraded into the modern imaging techniques of digital radiography to outline the soft tissue structures.
