Schwartz's Manual of Surgery 8th Edition

Schwartzs Manual of Surgery
Schwartz's Manual of Surgery 8th Edition. F. Brunicardi (Author), Dana Anderson (Author), Timothy Billiar (Author), David Dunn (Author), John Hunter (Author), Raphael E. Pollock (Author). Schwartz's Manual of Surgery has become the resource of choice for both practicing physicians, residents, and even surgical clerkship students who are interested in a comprehensive, yet concise on-the-job manual detailing the most current practices and trends. This edition reflects the most extensive revisions ever with a greater focus on surgical techniques and a superb array of new visuals including more tables, charts, highlighted topics, radiologic images, and surgical procedures throughout. New to this edition: staging tables for cancer, anesthesia guidance, pre-and-postoperative management of the surgical patient, and much more. This is the 'pocket' version of the Schwartz textbook of surgery. I think this is a reasonable manual that is certainly much easier to transport than the actual textbook. However, it really doesn't fit easily into normal pockets. These days most textbooks offer on-line versions when you buy the actual textbook that can be accessed anywhere, which is probably a better option.

Pocket Atlas Of Radiographic Anatomy 2d ed - Torsten B. Moller · Emil Reif

Pocket Atlas of Radiographic
 Anatomy
Pocket Atlas Of Radiographic Anatomy 2d Edition - Torsten Moeller (Author), Emil Reif (Author). In spite of the advent of digital imaging modalities, the importance of interpreting conventional radiographs has not diminished. As with the first edition, this book presents radiographic anatomy as it appears in all commonly performed radiographic examinations. The visible anatomic structures are keyed to schematic drawings on the opposing page, thus aiding identification and interpretation. For the the new edition, many studies have been replaced with better quality radiographs and drawings. A valuable starting point for radiographers seeking image interpretation information..highly recommended. The lost art of the plain radiograph is kept alive in this book. Organized by standard radiographic views, this book will be useful for clinicians, as well as junior residents in radiology. The images are arranged with the radiograph on one side with the schematic and key on the other. Quality of the images are decent and some subtle soft tissue anatomy is poorly visualized but the schematic is useful. This book should be upgraded into the modern imaging techniques of digital radiography to outline the soft tissue structures.

Goodman & Gilman's The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics 11th Edition

Goodman & Gilmans
The Pharmacological Basis of
Therapeutics
Goodman & Gilman's The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics 11th Edition - Laurence Brunton (Author), John Lazo (Author), Keith Parker (Author). The 11th edition of Goodman & Gilman continues to be the most comprehensive and authoritative single source on the pharmacology of drugs. The first edition was published by Alfred Gilman and Louis Goodman in 1941. It soon became known as the bible of pharmacology and, even though editorship and chapter authorships have changed continuously from edition to edition, this remains the gold standard of pharmacology textbooks....The print version should be on the reference shelf and the digital version on the computer desktop of all practicing pharmacologists, pharmacists, and physicians. There are few technical books that remain in a leadership position for 65 years. The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics is one. Physicians, teachers, and medical students have voted for Goodman & Gilman with their feet and with their pocketbooks for over six decades. The question is not whether this is an important and useful text, but why?...While Goodman & Gilman is no quick-read, it is surprisingly clearly written, logical and interesting. It is also an awesome realization to see how much one never knew, added to what one knew but forgot.

Encyclopedia of Cancer 2nd Edition – Manfred Schwab

Encyclopedia of Cancer
Encyclopedia of Cancer 2nd Edition – Manfred Schwab. The Encyclopedia of Cancer provides rapid access to focused information on all topics of cancer research for clinicians, research scientists and advanced students. Given the overwhelming success of the first edition, which appeared in 2001, and fast development in the different fields of cancer research, it has been decided to publish a second fully revised and expanded edition, following the principal concept of the first edition that has proven so successful. Recent developments are seeing a dynamic merging of basic and clinical science, with translational research increasingly becoming a new paradigm in cancer research. The merging of different basic and clinical science disciplines towards the common goal of fighting against cancer has long ago called for the establishment of a comprehensive reference source both as a tool to close the language gap between clinical and basic science investigators and as a platform of information for students and informed laymen alike. While the First Edition featured scholarly contributions from approximately 300 scientists/clinicians in one Volume, the Second Edition includes more than 1.000 contributors in 4 Volumes with an A-Z format of more than 7.000 entries. It provides definitions of common acronyms and short definitions of related terms and processes in the form of keyword entries.

Color Atlas of Pathology: Pathologic Principles, Associated Diseases, Sequelae - Ursus-Nikolaus Riede, Martin Werner

Color Atlas of Pathology
Color Atlas of Pathology: Pathologic Principles, Associated Diseases, Sequelae - Ursus-Nikolaus Riede (Author), Martin Werner (Author). The pocket atlas is an excellent reference work that presents pathologic findings in all clinically relevant fields, using high-quality photographs and concise, well structured explanatory texts. Images include color photos and micrographs. Electron microscopic images are included where necessary. Clear schematic drawings illustrate procedures such as the course of infections, etc. Text boxes on clinical and morphological aspects, on complications, and with easy-to-remember mnemonic summaries are set off in color. The illustrations [are] chosen to catch students' attention, and to explicate details and intricacies--along the lines of the old adage that one picture is worth a hundred words. As a teacher I would invite my students to describe the color figures and try to see how far they can go. Once they become involved and realize 'how much they can see just by observing', I would ask them to read the text on the opposite side...connecting words with the visual data. The authors deserve congratulations for the well-chosen pictures, some of which cannot be described otherwise than stunning and memorable. ...There are no similar atlases covering the macroscopic, microscopic and ultrastructural aspects of general pathology all in one.

This atlas would suit medical students from pre-clinical studies upwards to those more senior trainees undertaking house officer posts and higher training. It is of particular use to trainee pathologists, who will derive much vicarious experience from the beautifully presented material.
